Exclusive Prodigy Interview
Steve Lamacq
Steve hosts a very special interview with Liam Howlett of The Prodigy. Steve is granted exclusive access to the studio of The Prodigy's main man, to listen to the source of their new album The Day Is My Enemy. Liam unlocks the stems of his music and discusses the influences which have seen him at the helm of one of Britain's biggest electronic acts for over 25 years. Steve and Liam talk about the beginning of the band, in the early 90's through the rave scene, releasing seminal albums Music For the Jilted Generation and The Fat of the Land. They then bring it right up to date, with an in depth conversation about the new album whilst listening to the individual elements which make it, from the Liam's London studio.

The Prodigy: Six Tricks To Stay Ahead Of The Rave
Liam Howlett of The Prodigy told Steve Lamacq how the band have continued to redefine dance music over the past 25 years.
1. Don't Be A Popstar
“We didn’t do Top Of The Pops. We wanted to stay true to our roots. We’d seen other bands around at the time enjoy it, and no disrespect to them, but we were like ‘na, we’d never do that’. We didn’t wanna be popstars.”
2. Be The Fox
"We're like the fox on the cover of the new album. Y'know, we'll sneak out, let the world be known to us and then go away."
3. Slow Down
“‘Poison’ was a reaction to all the Jungle that kept just getting faster and faster, and more cartoon-like. So we made something slower, which dropped just the same and was just as heavy.”
4. But Don't Be Late
"We arrived 11 hours early in a Ford Escort to our first gig at Dalston’s 480’s club in February 1991 just to make sure we could wire all our equipment in.”
5. Swap Day For Night
“I just got bored of going to work, as in a day to day job, so I thought how can I switch it up and get the most out of myself? I started working at night time. I would go to work at 6 and leave at 5 in the morning. This unlocked a whole new part of the brain, which felt ultimately creative."
6. Always Be A Rebel
