More about the Nimbus -> Technicolor matrix
Before the board was hacked I know somebody wrote a great list regarding the change of the Nimbus matrix appearance over the years - was it you Svenner?
Maybe the following is old news, but there's three small details not mentioned in the previous list:
1) The dots right after the catalogue number seem to state which pressing it is. · means 1st pressing, : 2nd, :· 3rd, :: 4th, :·: 5th etc. (Also, in 1990 a LCD that was released at the same time as the CD seem to have got the : sign.) With the Technicolor releases the dots were replaced by digits: 01, 02 etc - but repressings of old CDs don't start with 01 but with for instance 05 if the last Nimbus release had a :: sign (=4).
2) From 1992 there was a X:X sign after the dots, for instance · 1:0 (the very 1st 1st pressing), · 1:1 and · 2:1. I suppose this had to do with larger quantities. Then in 1997 the letter followed by four digits infront of the cat.no was introduced, for instance C4721 CDBONG 25 · 1:0.
3) From the start (1987) the cat.no was written like for instance CD STUMM 47. But from 1990 it's CDSTUMM 47 - both examples MASTERED BY NIMBUS. This is another way of seeing if it's a re-pressing.
4) This is a sidenote, but the DOCDATA pressings of CDMUTEL5 and LCDMUTEL1 - the 1st editions of these albums - also have the dot system. The matrix also looks exactly like the MASTERED BY NIMBUS ones, except that NIMBUS is replaced with DOCDATA.
