Гизз наконец-то разродился зашейрить демку FMF 30 лет спустя

What was to be known as the “Breathe Tour” began on October 2nd 1996 and went through to December 28th. Apart from 4 shows in Germany, a trio of Scandanavian shows and a gig in the snowy peaks of Val D’Isere , the tour was all UK. The choice of support was two DJ’s one of them being Jon Carter aka Monkey Mafia, and the other being KRIS NEEDS, Journalist, author and musician. Kris is one of the most interesting guys on this planet Earth , was the secretary of the Mott The Hoople fan club in 1973, the editor of ZigZag magazine in 1977, personal friend of The Clash, Rolling Stones, Blondie…. Need I say more? I shared a ride with Kris and Jon , as well as every hotel bar every night. The other guys often preferred to go home , if only for a few hours. Us 3 stayed on the road. At some point when the tour finished and when there was a gap in The Prodigy schedule, Kris invited me to a London studio where he was putting together a remix of “Fuel MY Fire” the L7 cover which The Prodigy had been covering since I began playing with them. Kris had an incredible drum sample, it sounded similar to Motörhead “Overkill” , double kick drum action, always on the down beat with some really tasty rimshot fills. He asked me to play anything I liked, so I played my interpretation of the song which was more along the lines of the English Dogs , “To The Ends Of The Earth” and “Forward Into Battle”. I added some two handed tapping stuff, and some effects, but mostly this riffing , which was very "Fast"Eddie Clarke. The result was knockout, I would play that track to every publishing company, every management company and every record company that I was to have a meeting with in the next few months and they were all gobsmacked. Everybody thought it could be a hit! The Prodigy decided not to use that remix :-/
That version would have been like a cross between The Prodigy and Motörhead, and really “WHAT IS THERE NOT TO LOVE ABOUT THAT?”
Anyways…….when Liam played the “Fat Of The Land” album for the very first time to the band, it was on a tour bus ride in June 97. When Fuel My Fire started my ears pricked up as that sound at the very beginning was from that Kris Needs remix. It was my guitar wailing and buzzing away like some Geiger counter on the set of Quatermass and The Pit. I’d managed to get on it!!!!
